Two of our three children were born in Switzerland. The experience was profound. The care and attention we received was without compare!
As a Canadian birthing abroad I began to see the gaps within the North American culture surrounding the childbearing year. It was while pregnant that my passion for supporting families ignited. In 2006, upon our return to Canada my journey in the maternal-child profession began. I enrolled in Birth and Postpartum Doula training with DONA International and have never looked back! I am dedicated to childbearing families with a passion for building healthy communities. I hold the following qualifications:
Although I was born and raised on Vancouver Island I consider Alberta home. Our family is settled Northwest of Cochrane on our family farm. Prior to moving here we lived in both Northern and Southern, Alberta which has given me a deep understanding of the current birth culture in our province. For this reason I am focused on providing comprehensive education, doula care and breastfeeding support to families in Cochrane, Calgary, Airdrie and all of Mountain View County. I firmly believe all families matter and deserve evidence-based wrap around support. As an active member of the Alberta birth community I teach prenatal classes, attend births, offer in-home breastfeeding consultations and support and provide families with postpartum services - including overnight care for families with multiples and singletons. I am the owner and director of an Alberta Birth Services Agency and volunteer my time as the Education Director for the Doula Association of Alberta (DAA), and with the Alberta Breastfeeding Committee (ABC) as their Recruitment Director. I teach a DONA-approved Birth Doula Training program in Alberta and British Columbia, as well as a Breastfeeding for Doulas + Healthcare Professionals class and serve as a mentor to many new and aspiring Doulas. Wherever you are in your journey, and whatever has lead you here, I encourage you to connect. Support is available in many capacities and I would consider it a privilege to walk alongside your family however you would like to define it! Warmly, Erin Moyen |
Testimonial:
We had an amazing experience with Erin. We met with her for several visits prior to the birth of our son and she attended our 22 hour natural labor and birth. We absolutely couldn't have had a more successful and memorable experience without her. She was knowledgeable, professional, kind, caring and exactly the support we needed. I don't think we could have had the same positive labor and birthing experience without the expertise she provided. She also gave us excellent postpartum breastfeeding support. She was easy to talk to, compassionate and I can't imagine having gone through the experience without her by our side. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a positive birth experience. 5/25/2016 |
