Birth Doula + Lactation Educator
I am a former literacy and elementary school educator, a wife with an incredible partner and a Mum to three completely amazing young men. I was also a longtime volunteer with infants at the Alberta Children's Hospital.
My Birth Doula education consists of the completion of both the DONA International Birth Doula course at Mount Royal University, the in-person Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) program with Evergreen Perinatal in Seattle, WA and a Breastfeeding for Doulas and Healthcare Professionals class.
Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education, both degrees awarded by the University of Calgary.
I am fulfilling a life long dream and calling by working as a birth doula. I have a passion for family, everything birth and making real and authentic connections that uplift and empower.
The philosophy behind my practice is to help Mums or Mums and Partners to be the authors of their own birth story. My role is to support and enable them to feel capable, explore their own rhythms and rituals and to ensure they always feel empowered in both choice and voice.
This way of approaching Doula work can be illustrated beautifully through words from the Tao Te Ching:
You are a birth servant. Do good without show or fuss. If you must take the lead, lead so that the mother is helped, yet free and still in charge. When the baby is born, they will rightly say: “We did it ourselves!” ~Tao Te Ching
Wherever you decide to have your child - at home with a midwife, in a birth centre or in a hospital, I will strive to help you make your environment conducive to confidence and purpose. Whatever path you choose for labour I will support your choices and your voice - lending comfort in every way possible. This is your story.
