Doula & Lactation Educator
As a dual national New Zealander/Australian, I arrived in Canada in 2011 with my wonderful husband on a two-year working holiday. We both fell in love with the mountains, outdoor adventure opportunities and the Canadian lifestyle. We are now permanent residents, parents of two amazing Canadian children and are pursuing Canadian Citizenship.
As I gave birth to both of my children here in Canada, my husband and I had only each other for support during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. This was an eye opening experience for me as I initially had no idea how extra physical and emotional support, encouragement and resources can impact this incredibly personal, and sometimes very vulnerable time. From my own experiences grew a need and drive to support and nurture mothers and families going through their own childbirth, lactation and postpartum journeys.
I have since completed the DONA International Birth Doula course through Mount Royal University in Calgary, a Breastfeeding for Doulas and Healthcare Professionals class through Chavah, an in-person Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) program through Evergreen Perinatal Education in Emeryville, CA. and a DONA International Postpartum Doula course with AJ Hadfield in Calgary. I also hold a Bachelor of Science awarded by Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.
My philosophy and approach within my practice is: I Can, I Will.
I Can; support, nurture and encourage you through your postpartum and breastfeeding experiences. I Will; provide physical and emotional support, information and resources, a safe space to be yourself and aid you in finding your own rhythm and self-confidence so you feel empowered, knowledgeable and that you also know,
You Can, You Will.
